The basic methods of smoke prevention design in GB 51251-2017 Technical standard for smoke management systems in buildings have been greatly changed and the technical requirements have been greatly improved. Different provinces and cities have different understandings of GB 51251-2017, and different interpretation documents of this technical standard have been proposed. Comparing the interpretation documents of GB 51251-2017 in various regions, the author finds that the standards for the thickness value of the smoke exhaust layer under the opposite smoke outlet are different in different regions, and the calculation principles of the maximum allowable smoke exhaust volume of a single smoke outlet are also different. In addition, GB 51251-2017 also lacks implementable regulations for the supplementary air requirements of natural smoke exhaust systems, the smoke prevention measures for the enlarged anteroom on the first floor, and the pressure control measures in the smoke stairwell and the anteroom. This paper discusses the above issues and puts forward corresponding suggestions.
